Advocacy is a key role for Clubs Tasmania. We are well positioned to raise issues, concerns and make suggestions to relevant Government departments and peak bodies, on behalf of the community club industry. We have fostered positive relationships with key stakeholders which includes;
Monthly meetings with the Minister for Racing, Sport and Recreation, the Hon Jane Howlett, MLC
Representation to Government in each region
Regular communication with Communities, Sport & Recreation
Monthly meetings with peak bodies and state sporting associations
Panel membership on the Community Support Levy Charitable Grants Program

Thanks to Clubs Tasmania and their partnership with Energy ROI, we will save a massive $9,750 annually on our energy. That covers membership until 2046!
Less money on utilities, means more money to improve our club, we are saving over $10,000.
Clubs Tasmania’s current membership includes 190 clubs, as at December 1 2020. Members include grassroots clubs across many sports clubs large and small, as well as community groups and RSL clubs.
Clubs Tasmania has peak body partnership agreements with Netball Tasmania (23 clubs), Tennis Tasmania (43), Golf Australia Tasmania (63 clubs) and Equestrian Tasmania (5 associations) through to 2021.

Managing staff is a challenge for many community clubs and volunteer office bearers. Clubs Tasmania, part of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, has a dedicated Employment Relations and Business Improvement Manager, who can provide support on compliance, templates for contract and role descriptions, up to date information on awards and wages and, on occasion, mediation and representation through to Work Safe
Doing contracts and role descriptions for staff, volunteers and Managers can be daunting if you have never done any. Prompt guidance and help was extremely appreciated. Thank you for all your efforts throughout the year, it is greatly appreciated
Running a community club, most of which is done on a volunteer basis, can be complicated, often with many different rules and regulations to comply with. We keep our members up to date and informed on anything that impacts club operations.
Clubs Tasmania hosts a range of events, workshops and Zoom teleconferences with our stakeholders to build engagement and enable the collective voice of the community club industry to be heard.

GRANT ASSISTANCE
Funding assistance can make an enormous difference in the development and management of your club. The main funding bodies in Tasmania are, Communities, Sport and Recreation and the Tasmanian Community Fund and direct links to their website are provided below.
Communities, Sport and Recreation develops and supports opportunities for all Tasmanians to participate in community life, and sport and recreation by building community capacity, enhancing access and participation, providing quality policy advice, supporting individual and sector development, and administering grants. The Tasmanian Community Fund was established in 1999 to provide grants to not-for-profit organisations. The fund arose from the sale of the Trust Bank. The sale proceeds are used to provide grants to community organisations that make a difference by improving the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.
