Reports abound this week, and we’re here to view them through the lens of Tasmanian hospitality. Problems with pay rates, a continuation of the saga of the strong Tasmanian economy and commentary on the importance of pubs in local communities are under the microscope in this edition of Hospo State.

The ANZ Stateometer Report for the September Quarter showed Tasmania as the only Australian state with a Stateometer Index Value above trend for the period.
A recent report from the Australian Council of Trade Unions shows that Australian casuals are frequently being underpaid in most of the industries where casual work is highly prevalent, including the hospitality industry.





The Australian and Tasmanian Governments are investigating potential upgrades and improvements to the highways surrounding the Queen’s Domain in Hobart. The investigation is currently in its community and stakeholder consultation phase.
