2018 Industry Leadership Enterprise and Development Program

2018 Industry Leadership Enterprise and Development Program

The THA sponsored 6 emerging industry leaders in the Program, a valuable contribution to venues for the time and effort involved.  All graduated and are to be commended for their participation.

The newest offering from Tasmanian Leaders, developed in conjunction with industry, was designed to increase business leaders’ capacity and drive to lead lasting change within Tasmanian industries experiencing significant growth or disruption.

I-LEAD is designed to provide participants with a leadership toolbox and will focus on three key areas: people, business and leadership.

General Manager, Angela Driver, has praised the 2018 inaugural program held in Launceston as providing valuable engagement with industry to develop leaders across a broad range of businesses operating here in Tasmania.

“The program was delivered across two sessions of two days each delivered has included a mixture of facilitator led workshops and sector expertise.” Ms Driver said. “In between the residential sessions participants meet with an appropriately matched mentor to provide participants the opportunity to connect with some of Tasmania’s most experienced business people from the Tasmanian Leaders network."

One of the participants said “I met with my mentor yesterday and it was certainly well worth the meet up. He was very insightful into personal development and growth.”

Ms Driver said “The end result will be a new cohort of industry leaders inspired and capable to lead beyond self for the greater good of Tasmania.” Ms Driver said.

The Tasmanian Government provided support to Tasmanian Leaders in the development of I-LEAD. Peter Gutwein MP, Treasurer and Minister for State Growth endorsed the program, saying “Initiatives like I-LEAD will improve leadership and business acumen of participants as they develop the skills to take a more strategic and long term view to sustaining business growth”.

The impact of the program can be demonstrated from participant feedback.  One participant provided a note after the first session to say; “I just wanted to say thank you to both facilitators.  The weekend has been really fantastic in all areas.  The people are amazing, both instructors and participants alike.  The content has been set out well and is well prepared.  I'm actually looking forward to the next stages!”

The program will be held in Hobart in 2019 and 2020 in Burnie.
