Procurer Meets Producer was a pilot event that was hosted by the THA and held at Willie Smiths Cidery & Apple Shed Restaurant last Tuesday. The night was a resounding success, with a great mix of over 80 small farm producers and Hospitality venue owners, operators, chefs and FOH staff.
The THA has provided Scholarships for 6 emerging leaders in the Hospitality Industry through the Industry Leadership Enterprise and Development Program.
Through our MoU with the Government and a strong Workforce Plan we have been able to provide scholarships into the 2018 ILead program.
Students were given the challenge and were shown some basic kitchen skills with regards to Hygiene, knife skills, being organised and working in a team environment, making Sushi for each other to eat.
As an industry we all need to provide students coming into the Hospitality sector a real and authentic work placement experience.
Work experience is a vital component of the students training and it is essential that they gain the exposure that will actually allow them to understand what the industry demands of its new employees.
