Clubs Tasmania?
Keeping our communities strong and connected is important to us all. Community clubs play an essential role in the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians. Funded by the State Government (2019-2022), Clubs Tasmania, part of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, operates as a not for profit, or profit for purpose entity.
We work in partnership with the three tiers of Government, Communities, Sport and Recreation, state sporting associations and peak bodies to:
Advocate for increased Government investment in the community club sector (successful lobbying since 2018 with additional $24 million secured in Government funding)
Maintain relationships with Government / Communities, Sport and Recreation
Increase employment in the community club sector
Strengthen the community club industry by helping clubs and peak bodies increase participation
Support clubs to remain viable and sustainable with timely and tailored advice, webinars and teleconferences on issues that matter to community clubs
Provide a voice for grassroots community clubs and
Assist community clubs to access a suite of corporate partners and Government services that enable community clubs to reduce costs, increase revenue, decrease volunteer workload and build capacity so clubs can ‘thrive and survive’ post COVID 19
COVID-19 has had an impact on all facets of our lives including within our community and sporting clubs. The Government has provided substantial support to the sector throughout the pandemic which has provided certainty and consistency at a time when it is needed most. Clubs Tasmania is ideally placed to assist sporting clubs and organisations as they recover and rebuild from COVID-19 and I commend Clubs Tasmania for its ongoing advocacy.
ABOUT US
Andrew Moore is the Project Manager at Clubs Tasmania. He understands communities and grassroots community clubs, at the local and national level.
Andrew recognises how community clubs, as not for profit entities, play an important role in keeping communities connected. Together with peak bodies and state sporting associations, we assist in increasing participation as a participant, coach, volunteer, official, committee member or sponsor.
Together with the team at the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, Clubs Tasmania are well placed to advocate for the community club industry and assist community clubs to remain viable and sustainable, in what will be a changing landscape for both community clubs and the sport and recreation sector.
Tasmanian Hospitality Association CEO Steve Old is a strong advocate for community sport and recreation clubs. Steve is passionate about sport at all levels, having volunteered as President at Sorell Football Club, Kingborough Tigers Football Club and Hobart Chargers Basketball over many years. Steve understands the challenges that community clubs face and he is an active campaigner for greater investment in the community club industry and sporting sector.
What we do
Advocacy is a key function of Clubs Tasmania and our most important member benefit. Clubs Tasmania, ensures the interests of community clubs are well represented in dealings with Government, media, peak bodies and the broader community.
Maintaining the strength and vibrancy of the community club industry helps to promote healthy communities. Digital platforms are important tools for us to connect with our industry and Zoom teleconferences, webinars and community forums, allows us to keep engaged with stakeholders and the broader community club industry.
Via our toll free number, 1300 125 827 and our digital platforms, we provide clear and consistent communication and timely in advice that positions Clubs Tasmania, as a trusted source of information.
We really appreciated the financial advice and support available through the Collins SBA partnership, during the COVID 19 pandemic
From mainstream sports like footy, cricket, netball, basketball, tennis and golf, to emerging, non-traditional activities such as mountain biking, walking and the growth of personal gyms, Clubs Tasmania is the voice behind the changing landscape of the community club industry.
